Initiatives to Preserve Water Resources

Water is a critically important resource for producing pharmaceuticals and fermentation products. At the same time, global warming and other issues have led to water cycle abnormalities on a global scale, causing droughts, floods and other regional disasters.

Pursuant to the Kirin Group’s target concerning water resources—“Strive to see that water resources in each region can be ensured on a permanent basis by 2050”—the Kyowa Hakko Kirin Group is endeavoring to save water and preserve water resources in cooperation with its stakeholders with the aim of securing lasting water resources in every region by maintaining a sound water cycle. As a more specific target for saving water, we are upholding a global group goal of reducing water use in FY 2030 by 30% from the FY 2015 level to 36.926 million m3 or less, and have begun working to achieve the goal.

Using Water Sparingly

The Kyowa Hakko Kirin Group is striving to use water more efficiently in its production processes. By recycling and reusing water, we are striving to consume less water.

Protecting Water

The Kyowa Hakko Kirin Group takes part in the Kirin Group’s water-source protection project by engaging in water source forest conservation activities, and tree planting and cleaning activities.
